Atlanta's Handpainted Signs

If you're from an old city, hand painted signs around cities can easily be taken for granted. However, they're rapidly being replaced for back lit computer-set type or even being repainted. Most of you are familiar with Atlanta's charm: sweet tea sipping aunts sitting next to the next big hip hop artist at Mary Macs Tea Room. Joe captures a rawness of Atlanta's personality:

I have been focusing on the more raw, folk-art style of signage, as they are the most indicative (in my opinion) of a true 'Atlanta - style' of hand done commercial art.

A SCAD graduate, Joseph Veazey is a graphic designer and artist that was, until recently, based out of Atlanta. We wish him luck in the Big Apple!

Check out the rest of his Atlanta Hand painted signs collection on his site, Museum.
