Not your typical Arts Festival: Atlanta Fringe Festival

/ Comments (0)

The idea of a Fringe Festival began in Scotland in 1947. Leading up to the festival, artists are randomly picked from a hat, and would be called upon to preform that the following festival. It turned out to be a huge success.

Atlanta, wait no more, we finally have our Fringe Festival. Being locally grown and cultivated, the festival has begun to take on a voice of it's own, attracting artists and underground performers from all corners of the world and of the industry. Performers range from burlesque dancers, comedy, clowns and even an Italian opera singer.

The inaugural celebration will take place form May 9th until the 13th and will mainly be held in Decatur, however, there are several locations where performances will be held. The opening performance, to be held in Decatur Marta Plaza on May 8, will feature 3 minute previews of each performer, to give you an idea of what's in store.

Tickets are $10 for each performance in addition to a mandatory one time purchase of a button. Tickets can be purchased http://atlantafringe.org/home/buy-tickets/.
