New World Trade Center Logo released

One World Trade Center, the flagship tower of the new World Trade Center complex is set to open in 2013. Being of such domestic and international importance and symbolism, the entire project has been heavily influenced from such an array of politicians and corporate CEOs, numbing any character the project could have embodied. The logo seems to follow in the architect's footsteps. Designed by Wordsearch, a branding firm specializing in the Real Estate and Architecture industries, the logo is reminiscent of a 1980s logo or perhaps USA Today. It seems outdated, even before it's official release.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

I like the simple concept, as we are all one peoples of many united - one building etc. There are different logo styles for how much a logo actually does? Sometimes a lot more than othertimes just an typography update. The main discrepancy of spoof and bad logos arises when people make them have no respect/interest for the company their client and likewise in work it isn't always the best fit, which is everyones responsibility to some degree and a grind of a budge when deciding jobs.

It seems to be very easy to get caught up in what's cool and trendy and exclude the client's wishes as well as their target demographic. How easy to forget that hip, young, cool people between the ages of 20 and 25 aren't always the targeted demographic.

I do agree with you, and I think that the concept outshines the design of the logo. The concept is easy to digest and I'm sure will be warmly accepted by the average American.

Do you think that the one tower to rule them all approach was the wisest? Or would you have rather seen several smaller interpretations of the the buildings that would represent the originals? Is the international perception of America more important than architectural practicality, or perhaps of the vision of how we see ourselves?

We'd love to hear your opinion, anonymous!
